Embracing Innovation, Empowering Community: Insights from ELBA’s All Staff Conference

ELBA recently held its annual all staff conference at the Bromley by Bow Centre, which marked a significant milestone for the organisation as it was the second conference held in person since the COVID-19 lockdowns. With 48 members of staff in attendance, along with two students on work experience supporting the organisation, the event was a remarkable gathering of passionate colleagues dedicated to making a positive impact within the local community.

The conference focused on several important topics, including a review of the all-staff survey. The staff engaged in discussions to address the needs of ELBA’s employees, while also celebrating the feedback that highlighted the inclusive and supportive work environment. This recognition served as a testament to the organisation’s commitment to fostering a workplace culture where everyone feels valued and empowered. One of the key discussions during the conference revolved around the future of ELBA. The participants explored ways to integrate recent technological advancements, such as AI, into their work patterns while ensuring a person-centred approach. By embracing these technological innovations, ELBA aims to enhance its effectiveness in serving the community while maintaining its core values of human connection and community focus.

Amidst the productive discussions, the conference also provided an opportunity for staff members to reconnect on a personal level. The gardens within the centre provided the perfect setting for colleagues to catch up and re-connect during the tea and lunch breaks. This face-to-face interaction was wonderful as with hybrid working in a post-covid world, it can sometimes be hard to all be in the office at the same time.

The event not only fostered a greater understanding of the staff’s needs and aspirations but also highlighted ELBA’s ongoing commitment to the communities it serves. It was a day filled with inspiration, collaboration, and the collective commitment to growth, inclusivity, and community engagement.
