Building bridges, not barriers: National Apprenticeship Week 2026
Building bridges, not barriers: National Apprenticeship Week 2026
By Samie John, ELBA
For National Apprenticeship Week 2026 (9-15 February), ELBA continues to champion the transformative power of early career pathways.
In partnership with our corporate supporters, ELBA has not only fed into but also co-designed apprenticeship programmes and opportunities that local people can benefit from. With our partners, we know how vital apprenticeships are: they dismantle barriers to entry into complex industries like finance, tech and many more.
ELBA’s Employment programmes serve as a critical stepping stone toward long-term apprenticeships, moving beyond classroom theory to provide real-world “skills for life”. Parity and STEPS programmes provide comprehensive support to help candidates secure apprenticeships through targeted skill development. Participants receive guidance on crafting professional CVs, practicing interview techniques, and building effective communication skills that employers value. Through structured workshops and one-to-one coaching, candidates gain the confidence and practical abilities needed to present themselves successfully and stand out in competitive apprenticeship applications.
ELBA believes economic growth in east London must be inclusive. By equipping local people with the confidence and corporate exposure found in apprenticeships, we are not just filling a skills gap; we are building a more diverse and resilient talent pipeline for the city’s future.
We are helping companies to recruit apprentices right now, so please get in touch if you want to find out more. Contact [email protected].
Happy National Apprenticeship Week!
