ELBA and Eagles make a splash
ELBA and Eagles make a splash
By Andrea Rannard-Lambert, Director of Partnerships & Communications
ELBA and the ING Eagles got stuck into a team challenge with community partner Leaside, at their vibrant community hub on the River Lea in Hackney.
With a warm welcome from Leaside Director Beth Summers, the ELBA-Eagles team were water- and land-based, helping out with vital maintenance tasks.
Leaside is a thriving hub for adventure, paddling and environmental action, providing year-round support to young people through a youth club, holiday programmes, school and group visits, and traineeships. They also run a vibrant Paddle Club and a wide range of community projects that help people connect with nature and get active.
Leaside see the value in team challenges and – although relatively new to this type of support – they can already feel the difference they are making.
“ELBA plays a key role in helping us bring corporate volunteer to Leaside – the people power helps us to get the work done. Everyone today has had a good spirit and the whole site is getting an uplift!”
– Beth Summers, Director, Leaside.
The ING Eagles enjoyed their first team challenge – a full-day experience that blended practical land-based improvements with exciting water-based environmental action.
Kishur Nadarajan, current ING eagle:
“‘It feels great to come out as a team and support the local community, working together to promote diversity and equality, and support more sustainable practices across east London.”
The day provided a unique and unforgettable opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, connect with nature and make a tangible impact.
