Third year of Digital Compass: ELBA seeks volunteers and community partner

Approaching its third year, ELBA’s Digital Compass programme aims to build the digital capacity and capabilities of community organisations across east London.  For the September cohort we are looking for volunteers with relevant skills, and community partners who could benefit from three months of direct volunteer support.

A diverse group of people sit around a table in an office as part of the ELBA Digital Compass programme 2024.Utilising the digital expertise of our business volunteers, Digital Compass is a direct response to the growing need for organisations to develop better practice utilising digital tools and developing methods to capture and measure data.

Last year, Digital Compass engaged 25 volunteers to support six organisations (including ELBA) with various digital challenges. This included building custom CRMs, developing digital strategies and testing different data management tools.

The programme received a lot of positive feedback from volunteers, and all community partners reported some level of increased confidence related to managing their organisation’s digital needs. One community partner reported, “This project is going to help our company communicate the work it does. Within the team, within a national research level, to potential funders, to potential patients.”

Digital Compass begins with one facilitated deep dive session and a community partner visit. This enables community organisations to establish clear objectives and a project plan, and for volunteers to gain a clear insight into the charity they will be working with. Volunteer project teams are encouraged to meet biweekly and then conclude with a presentation of their work at the end of the three months.

ELBA is excited to launch another cohort this year. Applications are currently open for community organisations until 22 August, and we are also interested to hear from interested volunteers. If you have any questions or would like to get involved, please reach out to [email protected].
