Eagles fly high in their CSR roles

Eagles fly high in their CSR roles

In October this year ELBA will be celebrating 20 years of our flagship graduate development programme Eagles, which places under-represented recent graduates in top London firms. Our inaugural programme, “Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Eagles” has trained 281 people to date and, for many, the course and associated placement proved to be a vital foot in the door.

With the alumni now embedded widely across the City, we convened a meeting of 30 past CSR Eagles who are all still working in the CR arena. We invited them to discuss the results of a recent survey they had taken part in, ask for their feedback on the Eagles course and to gauge how the CSR landscape has changed. The event was led by Sally Roberts, Eagles Programme Director and Julie Hutchinson, ELBA CEO.  This was a great opportunity for ELBA to listen to the diverse and experienced voices in the room, all of whom had positive insights to contribute. Discussions revolved around the relevance of the term “CSR” today, social mobility, the challenges faced by Eagles in assimilating to corporate culture, the impact the scheme has had on companies and how ELBA can encourage new applicants and partners.

At the end of the event, Eagles were encouraged to stay and network, helped by refreshments provided by venue hosts CMS. The former Eagles are a talented cohort of CSR professionals who are keen to share their experiences with future Eagles and we hope this gathering will be the first of many.

Many thanks to CMS for hosting us, to the companies who have supported an Eagle, to the former CSR Eagles who answered the survey and to those who attended on the day.
