Caring for our Community
Caring for our Community
Written by Lauren Watson, Community Development Project Manager, ChallengeELBA
With the current and ongoing impact of the Cost of Living, ELBA has been responding to the needs of the local community. It has been great seeing the support and response from our corporate partners. Recently, BMS Group and Davis Polk have pledged to support the period poverty campaign and have raised funds to buy essential sanitary products for community partners to distribute to those in need.
“The BMS Gender Equity Committee were pleased to raise money for ELBA’s Ending Period Poverty Campaign at our recent 1 year anniversary event raffle. The money raised will go towards BMS preparing essential bundles to help communities in the local area on this important issue and we are very proud to support the amazing work that ELBA are doing as our sponsored charity partner.”
In a bid to address social isolation and a lack of heating, a Warm Hubs session will be hosted for volunteers to socialise, provide warmth and food to older people who are members of our community partners in East London. The response from our corporate partners in supporting the different Cost of Living initiatives has been essential in relieving hardship for those struggling, and ELBA are keen to continue this initiative and receive support as the economic environment enters a recession.
