Alexander Ash consultants spend the day at Eat or Heat
During February, a group of enthusiastic volunteers from Alexander Ash volunteered at the fantastic food bank and community resources, Eat or Heat. Eat or Heat is based in Waltham Forest, east London, and is a vital community service, providing food to people in need in these times of austerity. Eat or Heat offers support to those who have found that they are in the difficult situation of having to decide between heating and lighting the house, or eating and feeding the family.
The team from Alexander Ash was split into teams and given a shopping list of necessities to purchase from the local supermarket. Chris and Carol, volunteers who are regular supporters of the food bank, welcomed the Alexander Ash volunteers at the Quaker House where they use the basement kindly donated to them to distribute the packages to those in need. The Alexander Ash team were given an insight into how the charity works, helping feed people so they don’t have to make that difficult choice of heating their home or putting food on the table for their family.
The team thoroughly enjoyed the day, saying:
“It was an eye opening experience and we look forward to working with Eat or Heat again. A massive thank you to ELBA for organising the day and thank you also to Chris and Carol!”
