Working to improve the UK’s financial capability

 In Employment, News

The week commencing 13th November was Financial Capability week. Financial Capability week is an annual event which aims to raise awareness of and improve the financial capability of UK citizens. The week saw over 100 events taking place throughout the UK, during which the latest trends, projects and research findings were discussed, all regarding increasing the UK’s financial capability.

In preparation for our soon-to-launch new project CashWise, the ELBA employment team attended several of these events. To name a few that really stood out: The Money advice Service’s Learning and Sharing event, the Chasm Savings and Debt Summit at the University of Birmingham and the Money Savvy Financial Capability Conference held by Citizens advice Southwark.

Attending these events and being part of the week’s goings on was a fantastic opportunity to meet new contacts; some of the key things that we’ll be taking away are a new appreciation for Fin Tech and the possibilities it creates, for how crucial it is to develop trust and build consumer confidence, and the value of sharing learnings. So many organisations across the UK are making huge strides in supporting people with their financial futures; it’s been a fantastic week!

The final take away that attending the events gave us was even more confidence and positive reinforcement that CashWise is a much needed project within the workplace and has the potential to influence real, positive change to employees lives.
