The Education Team are just getting started!
Written by Zaina Ali, Project Manager – Education Works, ELBA
We’re just a few weeks into summer but, to our delight, it has already been filled with much fun and exciting activity.
Here’s a run down on what’s been going on:
Career Insight Visits
We have been working hard with Sarah Bonnell School to facilitate the chance for every one of their 270 Year 10 students to take part in a Career Insight Visit at the office of one of our corporate partners. So far we have facilitated 6 trips, including to Morgan Stanley, M3 Consulting, KPMG and Citi. Each workshop has been centred around The Skills Builder framework, with focus on elements such as communication, collaboration and creativity.
A massive thank you to all the volunteers who took part – your support has not gone unnoticed:
“This was the best trip I have ever been on!”
“The trips just get better and better.”
“I loved working on the activities and the challenge with the volunteers. It was a lot less nerve-wracking than I thought.”
– A structure the students created at M3 Consulting – the challenge was to create the tallest structure made of spaghetti and marshmallows!
If you needed a push to sign up and volunteer before the year ends, just look at what our volunteers have fed back:
“This was my first time working with young people but I would definitely like to do something like this again”.
“Thank you so much for organising – the students were brilliant!”
KPMG Dragon’s Den
We were also very lucky to partner up with KPMG for the second year running for their Dragon’s Den Programme. Year 9 students from Sarah Bonnell have been working in their business classes to develop a product of their own and sell it to their peers at school. KPMG invited the students into their office to pitch their products to the dragons (KPMG volunteers) and receive some advice from the dragons on the best ways to market and sell their product. We finished the session by choosing a winning pitch and a second winner will also be chosen for the most sales they make!
