Start early and spread some festive cheer this Christmas…
Tis the season of goodwill – but ’tis also the time when a lot of money is spent on Christmas presents and toys! With the ELBA Toy Appeal, donating at Christmas can be as easy as three clicks – all you have to do is shop for your gifts! Let’s make sure you’re spreading the festive joy early, rather than just one day in December.
Since the Toy Appeal began we have helped supported thousands of young children and community partners across east London. Whilst we have large national campaigns this Christmas, let’s not forget about the vibrant communities we live in, where many children are dependent on us to improve their this time of year! We are proud of the footprint so far 20 years+, with up to £60,000 of toys in the last year. Together with the amazing community partners we work with and great contributions from companies, we’ve achieved a great deal.
Maddie Khan, employee at HSBC took part in our Toy Appeal in 2015, and said that doing so “makes you appreciate what others haven’t got and how something we may take for granted, no matter how small, can make a big difference to other people, especially children.”
One of the many community partners which receive toys through our appeal is Hestia Housing and Support , a charity, working together with adults and children in crisis & the largest provider of domestic abuse refuges in London. Jessica Francombe, Children and Families Worker at Hestia said:
“We were absolutely blown away by the generosity and thoughtfulness of the ELBA toy donations. It really did MAKE Christmas for our families here at the refuge. Whatever the type of toy that was given, it provides a sense of ownership for a child who has left everything behind. Having just a single toy to call their own means the world.”
Don’t forget to incorporate giving to others into your Christmas shopping. You can purchase and donate a toy via your company’s John Lewis Gift List 2016 by 25th November. Just remember to have your unique company username and password to hand. Otherwise, see if there are any internal collections taking place in any office hotspots!
