RISE to the top

Standard Chartered Bank has partnered with ELBA to run the RISE programme for the second year. RISE is part of Futuremakers by Standard Chartered, the Bank’s global initiative to tackle inequality by promoting economic inclusion for disadvantaged young people, including those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. RISE means to Reach, Inspire, Support and Empower. It is an enriching mentor and employability training programme designed to attract Black and Minority Ethnic young people aged 18-25. The programme will support the next generation of talent to access opportunities to gain and sustain meaningful income.

RISE will be delivered over six months with the first employment insight workshop kicking-off in May 2022. All candidates on the programme are carefully matched with a dedicated mentor who is often a senior leader from various divisions within Standard Chartered. The mentor will support them with their personal development, setting goals and planning for the next phase of their early career journey. Whilst on the programme candidates are given access to insight talks from subject matter experts and bespoke development and recruitment workshops including:

  • Insight into apprenticeships, internships and graduate opportunities within the financial services setting
  • Business coverage and Skills for the future
  • Interview techniques, behavioural & psychometric assessments
  • How to complete applications
  • Presentation techniques
  • Developing a personal brand
  • Networking, goal setting and achieving them, resilience
  • Ethnicity in the workplace
  • Financial and mental wellbeing

At the end of the programme individuals will leave feeling more confident, prepared, focused, as well as expanding their network. They will comfortably be able to apply for various corporate careers opportunities such as apprenticeships, internships or graduate posts within departments such as Financial Markets, Marketing, HR, Cyber, Legal Services and much more.

If you are a young person of Black or Minority Ethnic aged 18-25 and interested in the programme, please contact Siobhan via Siobhan.mcintosh@elba-1.org.uk or 07572 602944.
