Moody’s TeamUp™* Supports East London Communities
From April through to July 2017, 20 teams of employees from Moody’s volunteered their time to support a wide range of ELBA’s Community Partners.
10 teams took part in Team Challenges, transforming east London’s places and spaces. Activities included re-building a compost area, repairing a damaged pond and building a BBQ at Urban Wilderness Community Garden, repainting the main hall at The Renewal Programme, creating a pool and splash zone and a parent zone at Homerton Adventure playground and maintaining boats at The Ahoy Centre.
A staff member at Wilton’s Estate said:
“This is my second time working with Moody’s and I find the teams to be responsible, hardworking and engaging. They are a pleasure to have on the estate and we appreciate the time given to us to complete improvements that we might not be able to achieve on our own.”
A further 10 teams of Moody’s employees volunteered their business skills. Some of the activities they delivered included career insight visits and business languages sessions for pupils at east London schools, presentation skills workshops for young east Londoners taking part in the National Citizens Service “The Challenge” programme, CV and interview skills workshops for Skills for Growth’s Young Learners and some even hosted a business themed tea party for Age UK service users.
A teacher from Newham Collegiate 6th Form said:
“This was a fantastic visit. The activities were pitched at the right level for 6th form students, many of whom have ambitions of working in the financial sector. Having the opportunity to speak to Moody’s volunteers and hear how a ratings agency influences global finance and the economy was a really valuable experience.”
A total of 233 Moody’s employees volunteered an incredible 821 hours of their time on ELBA facilitated projects. Their work generated positive impact throughout east London communities.
Recognising that a company grows stronger by helping others, Moody’s volunteers were taking part in the Moody’s TeamUp™* volunteer season, which allows employees to deepen work relationships through the act of community service.
