London Enterprise Adviser Network
Meet the Enterprise Advisers: Zoe Brown
Zoe signed up to the London Enterprise Adviser Network as an Enterprise Adviser as she was keen to work in the wider community with business and education and was in a position to match these together with her network.
“I have been working in the not for profit sector for a good deal of my working life and have always volunteered in a variety of roles, such as School Governor and volunteer non-executive director roles for charities. My current role is as a Business Improvement District Manager at Beckenham Together, and this role encompasses working with local businesses, both independents and large nationals, liaising with the local authority and creating partnership working with other agencies and organisations in the area.
As an Enterprise Adviser, I have worked with the Aspirations Co-Ordinator of a local school in Bromley (Eden Park High School) and have been able to bring objectivity to the process of going through the Gatsby Benchmarks. Teachers already have so much work to do and so much paperwork and this benchmark can be seen as more paperwork, however we were able to simply map what is already being done and fit that into the Gatsby Benchmarks showing that there is a great deal already in place and easing the stress on the job holder. I like that I can support such a passionate teacher who really wants to make a difference to the pupils and support the schools’ objectives and that my knowledge of the area and my life experience can really help. I like the idea of giving back into the community and making that difference.”
