Making waves and giving back: Lloyd’s Global Giving Month round-up

By Habiba Begum, Community Development Project Manager, ELBA

This month, ELBA corporate supporter Lloyd’s celebrated their Global Giving Month with volunteers across east London supporting our many different community partners in a range of activities. Here is a round-up of the fun and impactful activity:

  • 25 volunteers helped support the Lower Regents Coalition in Hackney with a Team Challenge. The group set sail on the Moo boats (kayaks) and hunted down every bit of litter that could be found across the canals. Volunteers always have a wonderful time at Lower Regents and Lloyd’s is glad to report back that everyone stayed dry!
  • Another two groups of Lloyd’s volunteers visited our friends at Stepney City Farm in Tower Hamlets and provided some much-needed TLC to the farm grounds. Volunteers rolled up their sleeves and kept busy partaking in lots of farm maintenance tasks, rest assured they had lots of furry companions keeping them company along the way.
  • Our last group of Lloyd’s volunteers completed their Team Challenge at another one of our popular community partner sites, Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park. Volunteers got through a heavy load of tasks including de-weeding the cemetery grounds. Lloyd’s volunteers remarkably managed to keep cool during the sunny June heat.

We appreciate all the support offered by our Lloyd’s volunteers throughout the month at our community partner sites and hope to see them again soon for many more team challenges!
