Linklaters volunteers transforming Lincoln Garden
Early July saw a small, yet mighty, team of 6 volunteers from Linklaters brave the extreme heat to put some much needed attention and care into Lincoln Garden. It had been disused and overtaken by weeds and was showing signs of neglect.
Lincoln Garden is a community garden used by local residents of all ages to utilise for a variety of communal activities. It is an important feature in the area as open spaces within the city are limited which makes available resources more important to the community. With summer here, the need to have a user friendly garden was apparent and the team were up for the challenge.
Volunteering opportunities like these are encouraged by Linklaters to ensure that employees are giving back to the local community and making a positive difference to users.
One of the volunteers who helped organise the team said the day ‘provided a good team building experience for us and also provided a real sense of achievement by helping community members to revive their garden.’
Tanjina who is in charge of maintaining the upkeep of the garden was very impressed with the outcome and stated:
“The Linklaters team made a huge impact on our garden as it helped us see the space for what it truly is which is a peaceful clean garden space. It also helped our volunteers realise its potential and become positive in coming back into the garden and growing again. The team were amazingly quick at clearing a vast amount of space and it was a thoroughly enjoyable day! Their work meant that one half of our garden was ready to be grown on. We’re very grateful for their efforts and welcome them back for any future events.”
There are lots more opportunities for groups of Linklaters employee volunteers to make a difference through team challenge and other volunteering. Get in touch with Rebecca.Leake@linklaters.com / Smera.Nadeem@elba-1.org.uk for more information.
