Leading the Change: Building a Future of Inclusive Workplaces
Leading the Change: Building a Future of Inclusive Workplaces
By Anna Ciecierska, Supported Employment Specialist at Job Enterprise & Training Services (JET)
Tower Project JET is an award-winning charity dedicated to supporting people with learning disabilities and autism into meaningful employment. For nearly 20 years, we’ve proudly partnered with ELBA, working together to support individuals across east London and we want to work with more companies.
Over the years, ELBA has been instrumental in helping many of our clients take important steps in their career journeys. Through volunteering opportunities and inclusive workplace experiences. ELBA has provided invaluable support and opened doors for those we work with. This long-standing partnership continues to make a real difference in our community.
Last year, one of our clients, Mehraab, was offered a paid role at ELBA. His success in the position stands as a powerful example of what this partnership makes possible and highlights the real, lasting impact of inclusive employment.
How we can support your business
Tower Project JET is always looking to connect with organisations – like ELBA – progressive thinkers, willing to look beyond initial assumptions and take the time to recognise the real talent within a person. We are looking for companies to partner and thrive with us.
We have a pool of skilled, dedicated individuals with learning disabilities who are simply waiting for the right opportunity to show what they’re truly capable of. Unfortunately, many of them are overlooked in traditional hiring processes where confidence and communication skills are often valued more than the ability to actually do the job.
At the same time, many businesses are grappling with challenges around recruitment and staff retention. Supported employment services offer a practical solution benefiting both employers seeking reliable talent and candidates ready to contribute.
Tower Project JET offers a free recruitment service based on a job-matching system. Our experienced Disability Employment Specialists get to know candidates in real working environments, helping them build vocational skills and confidence. When candidates are ready, these specialists reach out to employers who are open to inclusive hiring. They take the time to understand each employer’s preferences, expectations and workplace culture. They then match candidates to roles where their skills and personality are the best fit for the organisation.
We stay involved throughout the process. From arranging workplace visits and supporting work trials to offering guidance with onboarding, training and communication, our job coaches are there for as long as needed, whether that’s a week, a month or longer. We make inclusive hiring simple, efficient and reliable for any team ready to embrace diversity.
Leading the way!
ELBA took that step and it made a difference. They’re not alone. Among our partners are global names like Compass Group, Overbury, BM Catering and HSBC – companies known for their high standards and commitment to excellence. Their involvement shows that inclusive hiring is not just the right thing to do, it’s a smart decision for employers who care about quality, performance and long-term success.
These companies have seen first-hand how bringing diverse talent into their teams can enhance workplace culture, improve retention and unlock potential they might otherwise have missed.
We believe in a future where inclusive workplaces aren’t the exception but the standard, everywhere. We envision a world where people with learning disabilities are thriving in all sectors of business. Their presence in the workforce will simply be part of everyday life, a reflection of a truly inclusive society where everyone’s contributions are valued. So, when that time comes, wouldn’t it be wonderful to say:
“Our company was proud to lead the change.”
