Inside ELBA: Insights from our work experience students
Inside ELBA: Insights from our work experience students
Amaan and Fahim from a school in east London spent a week at ELBA for their work experience. They interviewed ELBA staff on what volunteering they do – this was the first time they had interviewed people and written an article. Here’s what they found out.

ELBA is a charity in east London that helps the community and works with corporate partners to improve life for people in east London. At ELBA we learned the importance of communication.
We interviewed David who is part of the Community team. David volunteers at his local park where he supports green space maintenance every week. Tasks involve planting trees and maintain planting beds. David does this to give back to his community and which makes him feel good, as he has unconditional love for his local area.
We also interviewed Smera who is part of the Community team. She has volunteered with Islamic Relief since 2013, where she recently helped deliver cakes for the annual Cake Campaign. Smera wants to help out her community using her time for good, particularly doing extra acts of kindness during Ramadan. She enjoys it as it makes her feel good and has made new friends. Her goal this year is to deliver lots of cakes!
During our work experience, we’ve been involved in lots of things including providing feedback on the ELBA website, learning about the work ELBA does and even some willow weaving!
