Harbour & Jones serve up a treat for local women’s group
On May 25th 2017, Harbour & Jones opened their kitchen doors to a women’s group from local charity, The Sheba Project, leading a fun and engaging cooking skills demonstration.
The Sheba Project was established to bring people from different backgrounds together and strives to establish a truly integrated and united community where people positively engage with each other regardless of their backgrounds to bring about harmony and understanding. The Sheba Project supports a number of community initiatives including education, community cohesion, health & wellbeing and advocacy.
The cooking demonstration was led by Andy Clark, Head of Hospitality and Food Services at Harbour & Jones, and Guillaume Chambon, Hospitality Head Chef at Harbour & Jones, who served up a real treat – Spinach and goats cheese frittata, with Jersey Royals, English asparagus and English herb salsa.
The demonstration provided participants the opportunity to access a new professional network in the City of London which they normally wouldn’t engage with day-to-day; to see a freshly cooked and economical meal prepared and cooked by a leading head chef, and contributed towards the building of their confidence for the employment market and launching their own food based enterprises.
The demonstration also gave participants the opportunity to get hands on with some of the preparation in the kitchen, share their own recipes and ideas for cooking projects, and provided them with a memorable experience which they can take back into their own communities.
Andy Clark who hosted and lead on the cooking demonstration said:
“It was great fun and so great to work alongside such a great charity, myself and Guillaume thoroughly enjoyed working with the ladies.”
Aisha Siddiqah from The Sheba Project said:
“A huge thank you to Andy Clarke for hosting us last week. We all thoroughly enjoyed chef Guillaume’s amazing food which he served up effortlessly! Andy was a lovely host too with all that entertainment.”
