ELBA: Volunteering is what it is all about!
ELBA: Volunteering is what it is all about!

ELBA embodies the spirit of people coming together, volunteering and working towards making a positive difference in the local community. May 2023, saw the King’s Coronation, a historic event for many to witness and alongside it came the encouragement for ‘The Big Help Out.’ The nation was encouraged to volunteer and help out in their localities. For ELBA, where corporate volunteering is a key element, this was a very welcome gesture and a great way to gear up towards the annual Volunteers Week which takes place next month in June (1st to 7th), alongside World Environment Day on the 5th of June.
The Challenge:ELBA team is anticipating this to be a very busy week with volunteers from our corporate partners supporting environmental causes within the local parks, farms and taking part in river clean ups with plastic fishing or gardening. Alongside this, volunteers will be getting involved in other opportunities to reduce isolation and socialise with the elderly or work towards restoring bricks at a dock. Since April, the Challenge:ELBA team has facilitated Team Challenges (practical team volunteering) with over 360 volunteers and look forward to working with many more as June approaches.
If you would like to find out how your company or team can support community organisations during Volunteers Week, World Environment Day or generally throughout the year, please email your Team Challenge lead or the Challenge:ELBA team at challenge@elba-1.org.uk.
