Demystifying Insurance: BMS and ELBA are opening doors for Newham College students

BMS Group, in partnership with ELBA, welcomed students and early-career talent to an Insurance Discovery Day. Designed to shine a light on career opportunities within the insurance sector, this event aimed to bridge the gap between diverse talent and the industry.

The event forms part of an ongoing collaboration between ELBA and BMS to promote commercial awareness across the insurance profession. By opening their doors to underrepresented groups, BMS continues to demonstrate its commitment to building a more inclusive and representative workforce.

Students from Newham College were given the opportunity to explore the breadth of roles available within insurance.

Through interactive discussions, industry insights and networking opportunities, attendees gained a clearer understanding of how their skills, interests and ambitions could translate into meaningful careers at BMS and beyond.

A highlight of the day was the contribution from Isaac Kigga, an ELBA candidate and current apprentice at BMS, who shared his personal journey into the insurance industry. Isaac spoke candidly about his experience transitioning into an apprenticeship, the support he has received at BMS, and the opportunities available to young people who may not traditionally see insurance as an accessible career path.

His story resonated strongly with students, offering a relatable and inspiring example of what is possible.

The Discovery Day also provided space for open conversation, allowing participants to ask questions, build professional confidence and connect directly with BMS employees.

These interactions are a key part of the programme’s purpose: demystifying the insurance sector, breaking down barriers to entry, and offering real exposure to an industry rich with long-term career potential.

Through initiatives like these Insurance Discovery Days, ELBA and BMS are working together to unlock opportunity, nurture diverse talent, and create clearer pathways into finance and insurance.
