Beating the January blues

Beating the January blues

By Hayley Turner-McIntyre Education Project Manager, ELBA

The first month of January has flown by, and our wonderful volunteers went straight into it with supporting impactful activity. Even though spring is within our grasp, the winter months present lots of exciting opportunities for volunteering with our most vulnerable groups in east London.

We know that January can be a difficult time for people for many reasons. ELBA is all about coming together for our communities when they need it most. If you’re feeling the bite of the ‘January Blues,’ we believe that giving back can be the perfect antidote.

Whether you prefer wrapping up warm for an outdoor project like park maintenance or community gardening, or staying cosy indoors helping with skills-based sessions or packing food parcels, there’s plenty of fulfilling ways to get involved. Your time makes a genuine difference, offering connection and support to local people who need it.

We are here for you, and we are there for our communities. Dive into the new year by making a positive impact with ELBA – you might just find it’s the best way to beat the winter chill!

ELBA started the year reflecting on the wonderful work our volunteers achieved in 2025 by publishing our annual Impact Digest, as well as the launch of our new consultancy service, The Impact Practice. We are excited to continue extending our support to our communities even further through dedicated, tailored impact design and measurement. Read more about our latest Impact Digest.
