AXA XL opens its doors to east London students
This month AXA XL opened its doors to students from across east London for a fun filled employability session. Students from Royal Docks Academy, Kingsford School and Willowfield School all came together as a part of AXA XL’s Global Day of Giving on 10th May. This energetic day had volunteers networking with the students, creating job descriptions and even creating a couch out of balloons…which students then had to sit on! One volunteer said that they ‘found it a very rewarding experience and a lot of fun’ and that they were ‘impressed by the engagement of the children.’
There is more and more research showing that events such as these, with students able to learn from and hear about employers and employees in the world of work, play a crucial role in preparing the students for their futures. Research shows that these workshops are proven to increase the aspirations of students, but even more impressively, that they are even improving their attainment levels as school. One student commented: ‘The thing I enjoyed the most was… getting to know more about insurance’.
We’re already excited to do it all again next year!
