Jodie Kelsall, Chief of Staff, Britannia Global Markets

Please provide a short outline of your current role and a brief description of any other relevant career experience
I am Chief of Staff at Britannia Global Markets, where I help drive the firm’s operational and strategic agenda. My role sits at the intersection of people, governance, culture and delivery, making sure our priorities stay connected and that teams across the business have the clarity, structure and support they need to succeed. I also chair our Operating Committee, which brings our functions together with transparency, shared accountability and a focus on continuous improvement.

Before stepping into this role, I held several leadership positions across Britannia, including COO, Head of Business Integration and Head of LME Trading. Earlier in my career, I spent many years on the trading and execution desks, which gave me a deep understanding of how the business works end-to-end. That experience helps me connect the dots, understand challenges from different perspectives and support teams in a practical, people‑centred way.

In 2025, I also became a Trustee at Wheely Tots through ELBA’s Board Match event – a lovely full‑circle moment that allows me to use my governance experience to support a local organisation making a real difference for families and young people.

Why is CSR important to your organisation?
At Britannia, we genuinely believe we have a responsibility to show up for our people, our community and the environment we work in. Being a financial services firm in London means we’re part of a wider ecosystem, and CSR helps us stay grounded, human and connected to the world beyond the trading floor.

It also matters because our people care. A lot of our initiatives have come directly from colleagues wanting to make a difference, whether that’s sustainability, inclusion or supporting local charities. CSR gives us a way to channel that energy into something meaningful.

Which topics, themes or initiatives is your organisation currently focused on?
At Britannia we are focused on three main areas:

  1. Environment – We’re continuing to reduce our environmental footprint in practical ways by improving recycling, cutting waste, and encouraging greener commuting through our cycle‑to‑work and EV schemes. Our office runs on 100% renewable electricity, which helps us keep our direct carbon impact low and supports more sustainable day‑to‑day operations.
  2. People & Inclusion – We’re committed to creating a workplace where people feel respected, supported and able to grow. That includes strengthening our EDI efforts, expanding development and training opportunities, and making sure wellbeing is a core part of how we operate. We want everyone to feel they can contribute, progress and be themselves at work.
  3. Community – Our partnership with ELBA has become a really meaningful part of our community work. Through ELBA, colleagues have taken part in hands‑on volunteering days, supported local toy appeals, and helped provide work experience opportunities to young people who may not otherwise have access to the sector. These initiatives make a visible difference locally and give our teams a genuine way to get involved and give back. It’s been great to see how much energy, enthusiasm and generosity people bring when they’re connected to causes that matter.

What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is helping people work better together. I love creating structure, clarity and a sense of calm when things are busy, but what really motivates me is seeing teams connect, collaborate and feel proud of what they deliver. There’s something incredibly rewarding about watching people grow in confidence and work together in a way that makes the whole organisation stronger.

I also really enjoy the variety. No two days look the same, and I get to work with brilliant people across every corner of the business, and it keeps me on my toes in the best way.

What makes the role especially meaningful is that I get to use all my previous experience – from trading and integration to operations and leadership – and channel it into something that genuinely impacts how the firm works day‑to‑day. Blending that background with the more human side of the job and supporting people through change, championing culture, and creating the conditions for others to thrive is what I enjoy most.
