Introduction:
I joined in 2007 on ELBA’s graduate programme, now called Eagles. I first came across CSR during the second year of my degree and I was so fascinated by it, I made it the focus of my dissertation. I heard about ELBA and the Eagles programme, and jumped at the opportunity, applying right away. Graduating from the Eagles programme, I managed to secure a position in Finance at ELBA and 17 years on, I am still here and have progressed to Group Finance Director.
Key contributions or focus:
I am responsible for steering all financial operations across ELBA and its subsidiaries. I lead the Central Services team, ensuring high standards of performance and accountability. In my role, I provide comprehensive strategic support to the Chief Executive, the ELBA Board and the Finance Committee.
I am responsible for the development of robust financial control and reporting systems. Collaboration with the senior management and leadership teams is vital as I manage ELBA’s portfolio, which includes over 15 individually funded projects. I ensure the delivery of timely and precise management information systems, while actively contributing to ELBA’s strategic vision and broader business objectives.
Professional background and perspective:
I graduated with a BA Hons degree in Accounting and Business in 2007, and joined ELBA after this. Over 17 years, I have gained extensive knowledge of ELBA’s finances. The diverse workforce at ELBA and what we have achieved to support the regeneration of East London, especially Tower Hamlets where I was born and bred, is heart warming. Living in Tower Hamlets for most of my life I have seen first-hand the issues facing the borough, and how the borough has developed through corporate engagement brokered by ELBA.
