World Earth Month 2025

It’s April, which means World Earth Month! This year we are taking part more than ever before, with over 280 volunteers out with their colleagues, taking part in team challenges all across east London, in celebration of World Earth Month.

London City Airport have been taking part in a team challenge at one of our most exciting community partners, Abbey Gardens, who had plenty in store for their World Earth Day activities. Volunteers pulled their sleeves up and got stuck-in with helping the gardeners build and paint flower beds, whilst also labelling all the different kinds of seasonal produce grown and used to source ingredients for the yummy goodies sold at Abbey Gardens Spring Cafe. Our enthusiastic volunteers from London City Airport got up to all sorts of different activities during their team challenge, including painting the bee enclosure and sprucing up the rest of the gardens site to prepare the outdoor space for local visitors ahead of the busy summer season.

We had lots of other team challenges taking place all across our east London community partners.

Our friends over at Spitalfields City Farm are undergoing a major refurbishment this season with the installation of new on-site facilities for their visitors, and this meant a jam-packed World Earth Month of activities for volunteers to help out with. Volunteers had lots of fun during their day out of the office and helped with cleaning the show paddocks, re-planting trees, patch clearing and painting. There’s always plenty to do at Spitalfields City Farm and our volunteers are always a big help getting the job done.
