State Street supports children’s Christmas party at Ivy Street Family Centre
The Ivy Street Family Centre in Hoxton offers a safe and friendly space for children and their carers, and provides activities throughout the year for families to take part in. Everyone is welcome regardless of their faith, gender, sexual orientation, family background or race. At Christmas, the centre holds a festive party to help support families that are living in difficult circumstances at this time of year.
On 12th December 2016 a group of volunteers from State Street came to help out with the Christmas Party and did a fantastic job of putting up decorations and setting up the venue for the party. As the families started to arrive the volunteers welcomed the guests and then got involved with dance sessions, craft sessions and serving refreshments. One lucky volunteer even got to be Father Christmas and give out toys to the children, some of which were donated by the ELBA Toy Appeal.
Claire, the Centre Manager, stressed how important the party was as even the smallest token can mean the world to a family who has very little at this time of year. Pauline, the team leader from State Street, was happy to help out the local community as well as have a fun day with the team, saying:
“I really enjoyed being project leader for the event and was proud to lead the State Street team of volunteers. It was a great way to meet and support members of our local community at Christmas, as well as the networking opportunity to work alongside my colleagues. Everyone seemed to have fun on the day!”
Thank you to the State Street volunteers that took part and made the party possible!
