Social Media Club
At ELBA, we do our best to respond to community needs and trends. So when we saw a rise in requests for social media support coming from our community partners, we responded by setting up a club. Every month, the Social Media Club gathers local organisations and volunteers who can share their knowledge, ideas and expertise in social media, branding and marketing to help a good cause. The Club is designed to provide a space for organisations to share their best social media practice with their peers and get individualised support from volunteers.
The recent need for Social Media support has emerged as grants and fundraising becomes increasingly dependent on online presence. In addition, funding cuts have created a need for crowdfunding as a way of building resilience in uncertain times. However, the capacity to build and enhance social media can seem daunting to a small organisation, most of whom will not benefit from a dedicated media or communications person. Therefore, we’ve responded by finding volunteers to help retain and increase traction to the organisation’s website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and give tips to efficient ways of managing their social media accounts. We aim to have one to two volunteers for every two organisation representatives to help each charity get tailored support.
We are always looking for volunteers, so if you think you’d be interested in joining our club feel free to get in touch: Antonia Williams: antonia.williams@elba-1.org.
