Report shows success of National Citizen Service for young east Londoners

 In Community, News

This summer, ELBA partnered with National Citizen Service and The Challenge to deliver a series of workshops for young people from east London. Thirteen ELBA business partners welcomed teams of 15-17 year olds to their offices for Career Insight and Presentation Skills sessions, introducing them to their businesses and helping them develop key skills and confidence.

The workshops took place during the final week of the NCS three-week summer programme, designed to help young people build skills for work and life. Teams of young people were asked to deliver a social action project in their local community. To do so, they were tasked with developing an innovative idea to pitch to a panel of judges with the hope of securing funding. ELBA business partners hosted the Career Insight and Presentation Skills sessions to help the teams perfect their pitch, whilst giving them an insight into the world of work. The young people delivered their presentation to volunteers who gave in depth feedback and worked with the students to improve their pitch, helping to prepare for the panel of judges.

This report provides a summary of the feedback from the workshops and captures key statistics.
