Race Equality Week 2022 – #ActionNotJustWords
Written by Amadiora Emechete, Challenge Project Manager, ELBA
ELBA is proud to be supporting UK’s second Race Equality Week from the 7th of February until the 13th of February, organised by Race Equality Matters. It is a week when over 2000 organisations across the country unite in activity to seriously address race in the workplace. This year’s theme is #ActionNotJustWords and organisations are encouraged to plan your own activities, implement Race Equality Matters solutions and join public events. There are some great resources available on the website.
Race Equality Matters does not only focus on race in the workspace once a year, throughout the year you can get involved in initiatives, including a Virtual Badge Campaign:, a public commitment to change, The Big Promise, #MyNameIs; a campaign creating awareness around miss-pronunciation of names, or a facilitated discussion between ethnic minority employees and the board, Safe Space.
ELBA and its partners have been working for many years to reduce inequality and improve fairness and equity for all east London communities. It has almost been 2 years since the killing of George Floyd led to a surge of Black Live Matter protests and we are proud to see that an increasing number of companies are accelerating their inclusion strategies to also create a fairer work environment. There is still a long way to go, but last year’s Race Equality Week proved that together, we can drive change and we would like to invite you to be part of this. If you have not yet, you can register here.
