MUFG Season of Giving: Leveraging Expertise for Good

MUFG’s 2024 Season of Giving saw the bank go beyond traditional volunteering by leveraging the expertise of its employees to support community organisations in Islington. Through two key initiatives, volunteers collaborated with local charities to address critical challenges and build sustainable impact.

Priority Planning: A Foundation for Growth

MUFG hosted two Priority Planning sessions during the season of giving. This is a collaborative approach designed to empower charities. Volunteers worked alongside community partners to conduct in-depth needs assessments using the NCVO Charities Essential Questionnaire. This helps identify crucial areas for development within each organisation.

Eight MUFG volunteers, including the CEO of EMEA, generously dedicated their time to support two Islington-based organisations.

This collaborative process resulted in a clear roadmap for each charity, prioritising critical areas for improvement and ensuring resources are allocated effectively.

Consultancy Workshop: Addressing Real-World Challenges

A dedicated one-day Consultancy Workshop brought together nine MUFG volunteers with three Islington charities. Each team delved into specific challenges faced by the charity, ranging from fundraising and project planning to financial management.

Volunteers engaged in intensive brainstorming sessions, leveraging their professional skills to develop tailored solutions for each organisation.

This hands-on approach provided invaluable support to charities, enabling them to address critical issues and improve their operational efficiency.

“It was a wonderful session. So lovely that corporate people gave their time to support local charities like that. I was particularly delighted with the team for the William Blake Fellowship, such diverse skills and a genuine interest and support for what we are doing.” – Community Partner, William Blake Fellowship

MUFG’s 2024 Season of Giving exemplifies a powerful approach to corporate social responsibility. By utilising volunteer’s expertise, MUFG empowered local charities, helping them to strengthen their impact and better serve the needs of the Islington community. As daunting as using your professional skills outside of familiar office walls can seem, volunteers were able to make lasting contributions towards the betterment of the Islington community.
