Heart of the City and The BIG Alliance launch Islington responsible business programme
A new partnership between Heart of the City and the BIG Alliance was launched last week at an event to announce the formation of an SME cluster in Islington. The partnership will bring together a cluster of like-minded businesses in Islington to tackle local issues and engage in our responsible business programme.
The event was hosted at the fabulous Finsbury Business Centre and attended by local SMEs and key stakeholders. It was great to see the venue full of SMEs keen to find out how they could get involved. From accountants, solicitors and architects to caterers, travel agents and digital marketers, all looking for ways to support the Islington community.
Guests enjoyed rooftop drinks and views of Clerkenwell before hearing from a range of speakers including Ian and Hugh Hudson of Finsbury Business Centre and Rachel Engel, Regional Head of Macquarie Group Foundation, who outlined the stark statistics about Islington as one of the most deprived boroughs in the country.
Heart of the City and BIG Alliance also gave presentations to outline our offer for the 2019 Islington cluster:
- Heart of the City and BIG Alliance are working together to recruit up to 15 Islington-based SMEs to come together to tackle local issues and engage in exciting responsible business activities.
- The cluster will take part in funded (i.e. free to you) places on Heart of the City’s Year 1 Foundation Programme – an inspiring series of learning events, account management and online resources to help you kickstart your responsible business programme.
- You will benefit from bespoke opportunities for your business to engage in the local community organised by BIG Alliance including pro bono, business skills volunteering and hosting work placements.
