From City towers to City farms: 40 Leadenhall in action
By Naimah Miah, Community Development Senior Project Manager, ELBA
ELBA is delighted to welcome 40 Leadenhall as one of our newest corporate partners, and it’s been inspiring to see how quickly they have embraced community engagement across east London. The team at 40 Leadenhall have made a strong start, already taking part in three Team Challenges that highlight both the diversity of ELBA’s programmes and the enthusiasm of their tenants to give something back.
So far, the company has participated in group volunteering with Forget Me Not Project, where volunteers supported older people through social interaction and meaningful conversation; a furniture upcycling project with More Life Home, helping to breathe new life into preloved items destined for local families; and, most recently, a day at Spitalfields City Farm, supporting the maintenance of this important space. Each opportunity has brought together volunteers from across the building, showing how collaboration and a willingness to roll up their sleeves can make a real difference.
The latest challenge at Spitalfields City Farm was a brilliant example of the impact that corporate volunteers can have in supporting local community assets. The farm is a much-loved green space in the heart of the city, providing environmental education, wellbeing opportunities and vital community connection. The 40 Leadenhall volunteers spent the day learning about farming best practice and animal welfare, assisting with site maintenance, and supporting the dedicated farm team in their mission to keep the space thriving for visitors of all ages.
“The staff were very nice, made us feel welcome and you could tell they were passionate about their work. I loved the variety of tasks, learning about what the farm does for the community, being close to animals. It was the perfect mix of fun and feeling like we were helping out, so I would definitely recommend.”

We are thrilled to see such strong engagement from 40 Leadenhall at this early stage of our partnership. Their commitment to opening up opportunities to all building tenants is creating a unique model for collective impact, one that strengthens communities while building connections among volunteers themselves. We look forward to seeing how this partnership continues to grow and the positive impact it will bring across east London.
