Building community on City Giving Day

Building community on City Giving Day

23 September 2026 marks this year’s City Giving Day, the City’s biggest day of volunteering. Every year, the celebration provides an opportunity for businesses and employees in the City of London to celebrate and showcase the activities they undertake to support the communities in which they operate.

At ELBA, we are delighted to work alongside our corporate and community partners to create activities and champion City Giving Day. This year, ELBA and partners will be involved in a selection of events:

Standard Chartered Foundation and Lord Mayor’s Appeal are hosting a roundtable discussion on how to create clearer, more connected pathways for young people to access and progress in good jobs. ELBA will be participating in this open, reflective and action-oriented discussion, showcasing different ELBA programmes and support such as the Eagles graduate programme.

Linklaters will be hosting a social media and website hackathon. This is part of the Evolve programme, supported by Linklaters, Societe Generale, the Societe Generale UK Foundation and UBS, and managed by ELBA. This interactive workshop will pair employee volunteers to review community partners’ existing website or social media presence to evaluate their content, design, accessibility and user experience. They will brainstorm actionable quick wins, long-term strategies, and practical solutions to enhance their digital platforms. Lady Mayor Dame Susan Langley DBE will be visiting to give a short speech and to hear from community organisations about what they’ve achieved during the session.

In addition, Standard Chartered will be hosting a RISE 2026 workshop entitled ‘Setting Up for Success’. Supported by ELBA, RISE is Standard Chartered’s award-winning programme that aims to Reach, Inspire, Support and Empower those from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds aged 18-25. The workshop will focus on personal branding and networking, and will support participants in developing their career goals and growth plans, and there will be a Q&A with Margaret Harwood, Europe and UK CEO at Standard Chartered.
