Canva’s Force for Good: Supporting Schools and Playgrounds Across Islington

Written by Nadia Ishmail, Project Manager, BIG Alliance

On Friday 27th June, as part of their global Force for Good initiative, Canva took part in a Team Challenge, bringing employees together to make a meaningful impact across Islington’s schools and adventure playgrounds.

Canva volunteers spent the day assembling and donating Learning Essential Bags for primary school pupils, each one packed with items like scissors, glue, pens, a water bottle, and other creative supplies to help children feel more confident and ready to learn. They also prepared Snack Packs for children attending local adventure playgrounds, offering healthy, fun treats to keep energy high during busy play sessions.

The donations reached two local schools and six adventure playgrounds across the borough, and the response from staff was full of gratitude. The Learning Bags provided children with not just the tools to learn, but a tangible lift in motivation, helping vulnerable families. Meanwhile, the snack packs helped support the day-to-day running of the playgrounds, ensuring every child had something to enjoy.

This is a great example of what our Team Challenge programme is all about, hands-on, practical volunteering that connects corporate teams with real needs in their community. The Canva team found the experience hugely rewarding and enjoyable. It gave them the chance to step outside their usual roles, learn more about the challenges facing local children and families, and give back in a genuinely useful way.

This challenge is just one part of Canva’s wider Force for Good strategy—a global commitment to using their platform, time, and resources to drive positive change.

A big thank you to Canva for their commitment to supporting the community and taking part in such an important and impactful team challenge.
