Broadgate Connect: first Service Partners Jobs Fair connects local talent with employment opportunities
By Abdulkarim Jeylaani, Senior Project Manager, ELBA
Broadgate Connect hosted its first dedicated Service Partner Jobs Fair, bringing together local job seekers and employers from across the Broadgate supply chain for a day of networking, careers advice and direct access to live vacancies.
Delivered by ELBA in partnership with British Land, Broadgate Connect has been creating pathways into employment for local people since 2012, while helping Broadgate occupiers and service partners access diverse, job-ready talent. Over the past decade, the programme has supported hundreds of east London residents into work and continues to play an important role in connecting local communities with employment opportunities.
How the day unfolded
Held at Storey Club, 100 Liverpool Street, the event welcomed candidates eager to connect with employers and explore new opportunities.
Over the course of the day, we welcomed job seekers to connect directly with employers hiring across engineering, security, front of house, cleaning and commercial waste management.
The morning kicked off with employer showcases and a careers panel, where employers introduced themselves, spoke candidly about working in their organisations and the career opportunities available. It was a brilliant way to break the ice and give candidates a genuine feel for who they might be working with.
After lunch, candidates benefited from walking around the job fair and meeting hiring teams face-to-face to learn about live vacancies that would complement their experience, skills and career interests, with the opportunity to ask questions about live vacancies and have real, unscripted conversations about their next career move.
What made it special
What stood out most wasn’t just the structure of the day – it was the quality of the conversations that happened within it. Candidates weren’t simply handing over CVs and moving on; they were having meaningful discussions directly with employers about their ambitions and what a future role could actually look like for them.
Time and again, we heard from attendees that they felt genuinely heard. Employers took the time to listen, ask thoughtful questions and give honest feedback. For many candidates, that made all the difference. Being able to speak openly with a hiring manager – rather than just submitting an application into the void – gave people real confidence about their next steps.
First of many
In response to the overwhelmingly positive feedback, we look forward to holding another jobs fair in future. Candidates left feeling motivated and better connected to real opportunities, and employers were impressed by the calibre and enthusiasm of the people they met.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended, presented and helped make the day run smoothly. Here’s to the next one!
