BoardMatch: An evening of trustee introductions

 In Community, News

ELBA’s Community Team ran its first ever BoardMatch event on the evening of Tuesday 25 April hosted at Linklaters. This was an opportunity for volunteers to network with a range of community organisations, all of which are looking for trustees. There was a range of charities present working in the areas such as arts, culture, young people, education, enterprise, mental health and the elderly.

Over fifty volunteers from a breadth of ELBA’s community of business supporters attended the evening circulating around a number of community stalls and find out more about each particular organisation. Volunteers were then asked to note down interests of particular community organisations they’d be keen on becoming a trustee at. The Community Team will facilitate follow up introductions based on the interests of volunteers and community groups respectively.

It was a great evening with one organisation signing up to 16 interested trustees!

Lynn Marie, Trustee at Green Candle, a dance organisation based in Bethnal Green who attended the evening in search of trustees said:

“It is a fantastic idea to be able to talk to individuals interested in supporting the community through becoming a trustee. Very well executed: one which I enjoyed very much.”

The volunteers who attended the evening found it extremely insightful with one volunteer saying:

“‘It was great to hear how my skills and expertise can support community groups which I would otherwise not have considered.”

The Community Team will be looking to repeat the event later on in the year. To register your interest, please email Shadique Gani: shadique.gani@elba-1.org.uk.
