Accelerating Action with MUFG – International Women’s Day 2025

At the current rate of progress, it will take until 2158 to reach full gender parity, according to data from the World Economic Forum. At ELBA, we recognise the need to achieve gender equality, which is why we are proud to collaborate with our corporate partners to address the systematic barriers and biases that women face, both in personal and professional spheres.

ELBA teamed up with MUFG to deliver a workshop for our students from Sarah Bonnell School. They had an amazing time networking with MUFG’s fantastic female force of volunteers who shared their stories about the various barriers and opportunities they face as women in the workplace. Students began the session by identifying famous female figures such as Malala Yousafzai, Oprah Winfrey and Ada Lovelace, discussing how each of them contributed to the development of female empowerment and inclusion.

For the rest of the session, participants were tasked with the challenge of planning their own International Women’s Day event, aligning with this year’s theme #AccelerateAction [https://www.internationalwomensday.com/Theme]. It was amazing to see the students work together to develop ideas that were meaningful and personal to them. Some students created an event based on the influence of their mothers, whilst others decided to organise a networking event for women from all different fields. They then had to present these ideas back to MUFG volunteers who acted as judges on the day. Safe to say, the students made their job very difficult!
