A collaborative challenge…

 In News

On Tuesday 2 August at Holybush TRA, volunteers from Nomura and State Street joined forces to work alongside 20 young people from ThinkForward. Despite the heavens opening up with a heavy downpour, the group steamed full on ahead to paint a mural.

The day started off with a quick ice breaker playing Human Bingo, where volunteers and young people had the chance to get to know each other a little better followed by the outdoor activity of revamping a wall on the Hollybush Estates in Bethnal Green. After a well-earned lunch and with the downpour that followed, volunteers and young people were taken to Oxford House: another community organisation within the heart of Bethnal Green.

The young people then participated in a speed networking session leaving the paint brushes behind and getting to grips with what life in the City and Canary Wharf is like. A mock interview session followed with the young people receiving feedback on body language, tone and content.

A young person who participated in the employability exercises said, “I feel more confident speaking in front of bigger groups now, I did good today!”

The day was a huge success and all the community organisations involved have been supported by our embedded Beyond Boundary project, funded by Nomura and State Street. Many thanks to all those who took part and braved the rain!
