Volunteer profile – James Frampton, Chief Information Security Officer, MD at MUFG EMEA
James Frampton is Chief Information Security Officer, MD at MUFG EMEA. James tells us about how mentoring is an opportunity to see life from a different angle, for both mentor and mentee, and about how it enables the volunteer share techniques and learn new ones.
Why do you volunteer?
It is an opportunity to see life from a different angle, both for me and my mentees. To help people grow as humans and develop their skills and understanding of the big, complex world around them.
What have you gained from your volunteering experience?
The BIG Alliance is solid, helpful and experienced, so no matter what comes up, they have probably seen it before and advise with experience. They care. I have learnt so much about schools, charities, life challenges and becoming mature. You never stop learning and you must not stop learning. It keeps me fresh and excited. I have seen people grow in confidence, maturity and in life’s rich experience and that warms me.
Would you recommend volunteering to a colleague and, if so, why?
Certainly. We have two ears, two eyes and one mouth and volunteering encourages you to use them proportionally. It’s not just about giving. It is also about receiving and working together to achieve goals and solve problems, share techniques and learn new ones. It makes you more complete.
