Staff Spotlight – Abbey Lew, Project Manager, Evolve Project
When did you join ELBA / BIG Alliance?
July 2024
What is your role and what does it involve?
I am one of the Community Development Project Managers in the Connect team and manage the Evolve Project. I facilitate skills-based volunteering sessions, capacity-building workshops, and run yearly mentoring and coaching programmes for community leaders. The Evolve Project is a collaborative partnership between four of our corporate partners – Linklaters, Societe Generale, Societe Generale UK Foundation and UBS. It was established to address the impacts of Covid and now the cost-of-living crisis. The project is focused primarily on Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Haringey, and works to dynamically respond to the changing needs of community organisations. Therefore, I’m often out visiting our community partners, facilitating sessions, and attending community events to better understand and support the needs within East London’s third sector. I’m excited to bring my creative background to this role and connect with all of our inspiring community partners along the way!

Name your favourite place in east London and why
The Curve Garden by Dalston Junction is one of my favourite places in East London and is a nice example of transforming former railways into community green spaces.
