Euromonitor International – investing turnover and time on CSR
For this month’s CSR Profile, we’re shining the spotlight on Euromonitor International, as told by Eva Harput, Global Head of CSR.
Please provide a short outline of your current role and a brief description of any other relevant career experience
I joined Euromonitor in January 2020 as a global CSR manager. I design and deliver our CSR strategy across 16 locations with the help of the CSR champions and coordinators. I have worked in the field since I graduated in Sustainability and CSR in 2012.
Why is CSR important to your organisation?
Euromonitor made a commitment to spend 1% of its turnover on the CSR programme. We believe there is a role for businesses in their communities and we hope we can influence others to start their responsible journey. We are being held accountable by our clients who trust us to be a company with strong ethics, and our own employees tell us they are proud to work for an employer with a solid CSR strategy.
Which topics, themes or initiatives are your organisation currently focused on?
The Euromonitor CSR programme is complex and touches on many themes including environment, health and wellness and community engagement.
We currently focus on reviving our volunteering programme, which was negatively impacted by the pandemic. The BIG Alliance and their skills and knowledge of the charity sector in Islington are crucial in helping us focus our resources on relevant areas. This year (2022), we are working on several projects like organising a team volunteering activity for participants of our graduate programme (they are excited about the opportunity), the annual Community Week in February and the Green Week in June. During Green Week, we focus on getting to know our communities better by learning from organisations like The BIG Alliance and by volunteering. The BIG Alliance has been actively involved in Green Week for over five years, and in 2022 27 Euromonitor volunteers took part in opportunities in Islington.
What is the best part of your job?
Where do I start? Is it being able to help over 200 charity partners every year who are all doing wonderful work? Or maybe the thank you notes from our employees after I was able to match their fundraiser for a cause they feel passionate about? The regular global CSR inductions where I get to tell our new joiners about all the CSR benefits? Or the moments when I get to join a volunteering activity myself and experience the feeling alongside my colleagues? Hard to say 😊
