Please tell us about yourself to give readers an understanding of your journey
Growing up in Tower Hamlets, I haven’t had the best opportunities to experience the corporate world, especially with my parents not being in the sector. This led to me being extremely obsessed with my own development and seeking out lots of programmes, insight lectures and mentorships to develop my knowledge of the corporate world, that I would otherwise be unable to access. I had gone through so many applications, acceptances and failures, but connecting with ELBA’s Samie John at a careers fair was a blessing as I was able to receive an invite to an event celebrating the achievements of other students through ELBA. At this event, I was able to talk to many students about their great achievements and the role ELBA has played in their development; I was amazed. Hearing about how effective ELBA has been in assisting students like me to gain experiences, apprenticeships and more with so many big firms motivated me to want to be a part of the programme.

How did you hear about ELBA?
At a careers fair hosted by the Youth Council for Tower Hamlets.

Please tell us about how ELBA has supported you?
I have benefited from the programme by attending employability workshops through the Equibalance programme. Whilst also being a part of Career Industry insight visits such as Linklaters and many more, I am interested in also accessing work experience and interview tips through the programme and with the help of corporate partners

What difference has this support made to you/your challenges?
I believe the support I will receive from ELBA will help in receiving further clarity into my post-18 pathway, as well as allowing me to learn more about what careers are available to me in the future.

Would you recommend ELBA to others and, if so, why?
I would 100% recommend ELBA to others simply because of all the amazing things they offer. I’ve spoken to Samie about ELBA, the firms they partner with and the different programmes currently running, and I can already see the benefits that can come by being a part of it. I have already recommended ELBA to others!
