Fozia Parveen is Head of Social Value & Enterprise at Morgan Sindall Group, which encompasses Overbury and Morgan Lovell. Fozia tells us about her role and what CSR means at her company.
Please provide a short outline of your current role and a brief description of any other relevant career experience:
As the Head of Social Value & Enterprise for the Fit-Out Division, which is part of Morgan Sindall Group, I focus on strategy, policy, monitoring, reporting and key partnerships that enable Social Value (SV) colleagues across the Fit Out division to align their work with the group focus and vision.
I have been working within the CSR/ Social Value space for nearly 30 years, with a huge passion to ensure businesses do the right thing with regards to our communities, local business, the environment and its employees. My past experience includes CSR management for major financial, legal, construction and land management operations, including JLL, Canary Wharf Group, British Land, Citi, State Street, as well as several London Housing Authorities. I was also one of the directors at ELBA many years ago.
I was a key member of The Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Apprenticeship (CRSA) working group, to develop the UK’s first Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Apprenticeship (CRSA) in the UK. I have been told I offer a rare blend of experience that encompasses both blue chip corporate Social Value / CSR management experience and grass roots Social Value delivery.
Why is CSR important to your organisation?
CSR and Social Value has always been important to the Morgan Sindall Group. I arrived in the Fit Out division in June 2023, and was blown away with the amount of SV initiatives and activity the business was already actively involved in. When asked “why did you do that?” or “do you know that is Social Value”, the response was “well, it’s the right thing to do”.
Which topics, themes or initiatives is your organisation currently focused on?
The focus for 2025 is on all things IMPACT, particularly education, employability and community volunteering. We are excited to be working with ELBA on a range of activities including charity partnerships in our localities, team challenges, charity fit outs and so much more!
What is the best part of your job?
Knowing that whatever we are delivering is making a positive change to someone’s life, the environment and community. No one day is the same.
