Jamie Nimmo, Office Manager at Euromonitor International Ltd has been volunteering on BIG Alliance’s Mentoring Works programme and here tells us about why he got involved and what he’s gained from the experience.

Why do you volunteer?
I wanted to help younger people gain an insight into the world of work and address potential barriers they may face in their early career.

What have you gained from your volunteering experience?
I gained experience in building rapport with different generations and learned about social mobility issues. The BIG Alliance’s Mentoring Works programme and materials provided a catalyst for interesting and probing conversations.

Would you recommend volunteering to a colleague and, if so, why?
Absolutely. To anyone who feels they have something to offer or is looking for an opportunity to give back, this is a fantastic opportunity to help someone grow.
