Building Community Capacity on City Giving Day
Written by Orlaith McGuinness, Community Development Project Manager, ELBA
Tuesday 27 September 2022 marks City Giving Day (CGD). Every year, CGD is a chance for businesses and employees in the City of London to celebrate and showcase the activities they undertake to support the communities in which they operate.
At ELBA, we are delighted to work alongside our corporate and community partners to champion such activities.
This year, one such example includes a People Management learning session, put together and delivered by volunteers from UBS. The session is a space for local east London-based community organisations to connect with each other, share experiences, challenges and advice on the subject of People Management. Throughout, the business partners share knowledge and experience across a wide range of topics, including performance management, giving feedback, motivating, coaching, delegation and time management.
This session forms part of Evolve, a collaborative partnership with Linklaters, UBS, Societe Generale and SG UK Foundation, aiming to build capacity of local community organisations through skilled volunteering. It is the fourth training in a series of practical sessions, designed to increase knowledge and confidence around key capacity building areas. Previous Evolve training sessions included Project Management, Communication, and Tackling Bias.
This City Giving Day, we would like to take the opportunity to thank all of ELBA’s business and community partners alike and celebrate the contributions they make to the east London community.
