ELBA CSR Network discuss how best to support local issues

 In Community, News

CSR practitioners from a range of sectors shared their knowledge and experience at the ELBA CSR Network event on Tuesday 13th June, hosted by the Canary Wharf Group.

The discussion theme ‘How to develop volunteering programmes to best support local issues for the community’ stimulated an exchange of views around the challenges and successes in delivering an effective programme in a geography as vast and varied as London.

Participants from the worlds of banking and investment, facilities management and healthcare considered whether locality should take precedent over need; how to overcome cultural barriers to engagement; whether a national campaign can be adapted for local delivery; and how to maximise impact at local level with limited resources.

The value of the event was neatly summed up in the feedback – ‘It was really useful and interesting to hear similar challenges from within other industries and how they have dealt with them’. ELBA will be planning the next CSR Network for September 2017.
