Please tell us about yourself to give readers an understanding of your journey
I have just finished sixth form and studied BTEC Engineering Level 3. I have been actively looking for a Level 6 apprenticeship along with work placement in order to increase my knowledge and to gain experience. I wanted to develop my communication skills and my confidence in order to make sure I am ready and confident within a working environment should I find an apprenticeship. I came to ELBA as I had the faith that they would be able to supply me with either an apprenticeship or work placement, which they fulfilled.
How did you hear about ELBA?
Through my local youth club called Society Links who provide employment support services.
Please tell us about how ELBA has supported you?
ELBA was able to supply me with a one-week placement at Overbury. I was lucky enough to be able to join them whilst they were completing a fit out project in the Slaughter and May offices. I had the opportunity to walk around the construction site and survey all the works along with taking part in group meetings with different subcontractors.
What difference has this support made to you?
This placement helped me a lot as it grew my confidence along with giving me a clearer understanding of how construction projects work.
Would you recommend ELBA to others and, if so, why?
I would definitely recommend ELBA to others as I would not have been able to find such a placement without their help.
