East London Business Alliance builds the connection between businesses and local communities, bringing the time, skills and resources of the private sector, to help build the capacity of local organisations, support young people in education and place people into employment in London. ELBA makes community investment easier, more effective and more rewarding, whether through face-to-face activity or online.
ELBA finds creative, ingenious and impactful ways to support local communities. Each year over 12,000 people from business give back to local communities through ELBA, using their skills, time, ideas and commitment to help in a very wide range of activities. Everything they do is needed in the local community and will have an impact.
Each year, ELBA places hundreds of people into work in London through our award-winning employment programme, delivers over 12,000 business volunteers into the community, and works with over 200 local organisations in east London and beyond.

Team Connect got to work with over 60 graduates and interns from @UBS last week. The volunteers reviewed the social media accounts of nine east London community organisations. The insight and suggestions provided by the volunteers will allow the community organisations to strengthen their online presence, reach a larger audience, and better showcase the impact of their work. A big thank you to @UBS for hosting this social media review and for the time of each volunteer.

On Thursday evening ELBA & the BIG Alliance hosted BoardMatch25 at SMBC. Attendees from across our business partners heard from 12 amazing East London and Islington community organisations who are all recruiting trustees for their boards. Becoming a charity trustee is an incredibly impactful way to contribute to your community. The energy in the room was contagious and it was great to see so many individuals excited about the amazing work being done in their communities.

Our amazing employees have been busy taking on a day-long Cost of Living Challenge, collaborating with 35 of our incredible community partners. 🌍🤝
🚀 ELBA`s Speed Shop & Drop event—a pilot skills-based group volunteering activity—saw teams of employees race across supermarkets in Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Newham, Barking & Dagenham, Islington, and Southwark. 🏃♂️🏃♀️ Their mission? To purchase essential items for those in need.
The day was filled with excitement and teamwork, demonstrating the power of community spirit and collective action. 🙌
A huge THANK YOU to our corporate supporters for their generous contributions to the Cost of Living Appeal, as well as to the supermarket staff and community partners for their vital support.
